GRP Cable Ladders

Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP / Fiberglass) cable ladders that are corrosion-free, non-conductive, and built to outlast metal alternatives in oil & gas, marine, coastal, and industrial applications across Dubai and the wider UAE.

Product Overview

GRP cable ladder is a cable management system manufactured from Glass Reinforced Plastic — a composite material combining a resin matrix (polyester, vinyl ester, or epoxy) reinforced with glass fibre strands. The result is a structural product that is stronger than many metals by weight, yet completely resistant to corrosion.

The ladder design — two longitudinal side rails connected by transverse rungs — allows heavy cable bundles to be laid and supported along their full length, with natural air circulation between the rungs to dissipate heat from power cables.

Atlas AlSharq supplies GRP cable ladders to contractors, consultants, and facility managers across Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman for use in environments where conventional steel or aluminium ladders corrode, fail, or present electrical hazards.

Why Use GRP for Cable Ladders?

  • Complete Corrosion Resistance
  • Electrically Non-Conductive
  • Lightweight — Up to 70% Less Than Steel
  • High Thermal Tolerance
  • Minimal Maintenance
  • Ideal for UAE’s Coastal Climate

GRP Cable Ladder Types & Series

We supply a full range of GRP cable ladder configurations to meet light commercial through to heavy industrial requirements.

  • Light-Duty GRP Cable Ladder: Suitable for internal cable routing in commercial and light industrial facilities. Ideal where low cable fill weight and space efficiency are the primary requirements.

  • Medium-Duty GRP Cable Ladder: The most widely specified grade for industrial, infrastructure, and petrochemical projects. Balances structural performance with ease of installation.

  • Heavy-Duty GRP Cable Ladder: Engineered for offshore platforms, power generation, and large-scale industrial cable trays carrying high cable fill loads over extended spans.

  • Fire-Retardant GRP Cable Ladder: Manufactured with halogen-free, low-smoke fire-retardant resin for use in tunnels, offshore accommodation, data centres, and public infrastructure where fire safety is paramount.

  • Chemical-Resistant GRP Cable Ladder: Uses specialist vinyl ester or epoxy resin systems for environments with concentrated acids, alkalis, solvents, or aggressive industrial chemicals.

  • GRP Cable Ladder Accessories: A complete system of matching GRP fittings to create a fully non-metallic installation — no corrosion weak points at the joints.

Frequently Asked Questions?

What is a GRP cable ladder and how is it different from a regular cable ladder?

A GRP cable ladder is a cable management system made from Glass Reinforced Plastic (also called fibreglass or FRP). Unlike steel or aluminium cable ladders, GRP is completely non-conductive and inherently corrosion-resistant — it does not rust, oxidise, or require painting. The ladder structure — two side rails and cross-rungs — is identical in function to a metal cable ladder but performs far better in chemically aggressive, coastal, and offshore environments. In the UAE, it is the preferred choice for oil and gas, marine, desalination, and outdoor infrastructure projects.

Where are GRP cable ladders used in the UAE?

In the UAE, GRP cable ladders are specified and installed across oil and gas refineries, LNG facilities, offshore platforms, desalination and water treatment plants, petrochemical factories, coastal construction projects, metro and tunnel infrastructure, power substations, solar energy farms, and industrial manufacturing facilities. The Gulf’s combination of extreme heat, high UV radiation, salty coastal air, and aggressive chemicals makes GRP the engineering standard for cable management in demanding environments.

What is the difference between a GRP cable ladder and a GRP cable tray?

A GRP cable ladder has two side rails connected by open cross-rungs, creating a structure that looks like a ladder. It provides maximum ventilation for heat-generating cables and is designed to support heavy cable bundles. A GRP cable tray has a solid or perforated base that fully supports cables along their length, making it better suited to lighter wiring systems. For industrial power distribution, large cable bundles, and locations where cable heat dissipation matters, cable ladders are the preferred specification.

Is GRP cable ladder better than steel cable ladder?

For corrosive, coastal, offshore, or chemically aggressive environments, GRP cable ladders significantly outperform steel. They do not corrode, they weigh up to 70% less, they require no earthing or grounding, and they need virtually no maintenance over a 25 to 40 year service life. Steel cable ladders have an advantage only in environments with high mechanical impact risk or where very high structural loads must be carried over long unsupported spans. For most industrial and infrastructure applications in the UAE, GRP is the more cost-effective long-term choice.

Do you supply and install GRP cable ladders in Dubai and across the UAE?

Yes. Atlas AlSharq supplies GRP cable ladders to projects across Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, and the wider UAE. We work with main contractors, MEP subcontractors, consultants, and procurement teams to ensure the right product is selected, specified correctly, and delivered on schedule. We can also provide installation support and site survey assistance. Contact us to discuss your project requirements.

What load capacity do GRP cable ladders support?

GRP cable ladders are available in light, medium, and heavy-duty grades. Light-duty versions typically support up to 50 kg per metre. Medium-duty grades handle 75 to 150 kg per metre. Heavy-duty configurations used in offshore and large industrial installations can exceed 250 kg per metre. The safe working load depends on the ladder width, side rail depth, rung spacing, and the distance between support brackets. Atlas AlSharq can assist with load calculations for your specific project requirements.

Do GRP cable ladders need to be earthed or grounded?

No. GRP cable ladders are electrically non-conductive and do not require earthing or grounding. This is one of their most significant advantages over metallic cable management systems. It eliminates the cost and complexity of bonding conductors, simplifies installation, and provides an additional layer of electrical safety in substations, offshore platforms, and switchgear environments.
